Happy September Goal Getter!

Fall has arrived. We’re in the home stretch of 2025! If you’re a parent, congratulations on navigating the chaos of back-to-school season. For small business owners and leaders, it’s also planning season for 2026.

At the moment, client deadlines and fall planning are keeping our team busy. Still, when I saw headlines about changes to the National Museum of African American History, I carved out time to take my youngest to Washington, D.C., just before Labor Day.

I wanted to give him something special — both a solo trip with his mom (thankfully, he’s still young enough to appreciate it!), and a glimpse of our family history in a larger, historical context. Now he can better understand the legacy of being of African descent in America, as well as the impact his great-grandfather, Dr. Leroy Weekes, a Tuskegee Airman, made in service to this country during World War II.

When I transitioned from the corporate world to entrepreneurship, my goal was to structure my life in a way that allowed me to prioritize opportunities, such as delegating tasks to my team, knowing they would keep things on track. Even when business is full on, I consciously seek a work-life balance by taking a week-long trip every quarter. What does work-life balance look like for you? Reply to this email and let me know. You know I love hearing from you all!

Remember my August work trip to Martha’s Vineyard? I love it because, in addition to producing the Momentum Summit, I’ve learned how to create opportunities to relax and recharge.
